Homestead's Luka Ivancevic wins the Division 1 shot put at 57-8¼
LA CROSSE — Luka Ivancevic has spent the spring in the 57-to-59-foot range. At state, that was more than enough.
Luka Ivancevic of Homestead won the Division 1 boys' shot put at 57 feet, 8¼ inches at the WIAA State Championships, beating Tyvon Pate (56-1) by more than a foot and a half.
It's the level he's thrown at all year: 57-5½ at the Myrhum Invite, a season-best 59-3 at the Ron Burling Invitational, 56-6½ at his sectional. The 57-8¼ at state slotted right into that range and held up against everyone else.
Homestead's Ivancevic adds the shot put to the Warriors' weekend — the same program whose boys won the 4x800 relay in 7:43.
