Three Division 2 relay meet records: Pius XI, New Berlin West, and Brown Deer
LA CROSSE — The Division 2 relays were a record factory at the state meet, with three programs rewriting the book.
Pius XI Catholic won the girls' 4x100 in a meet-record 47.60, edging Xavier (48.03). TyJah Horton, Samara Crowley, Nyomi Seals-Presti and Alanna Loyd made up the record quartet — and two of them, Horton (fifth, 12.44) and Crowley (sixth, 12.63), also reached the open 100 final, a sign of how much sprint speed the relay carried.
New Berlin West answered in the girls' 4x200, winning in a meet-record 1:40.87 over Pius XI (1:41.27). Caroline Gerovac, Aubrey Lane, Harmony Billups and Ashley Babcock ran the legs.
And Brown Deer took the boys' 4x100 in a meet-record 41.83, ahead of Martin Luther (42.23), behind Jaiden Craig-Collie, Jayden Ragland, Cole Lejon and Michael Essoka.
Three races, three meet records, three programs leaving La Crosse in the record book — and a dozen sprinters who delivered some of the fastest team running of the weekend.
