Kickapoo/La Farge's girls set two relay meet records at state
LA CROSSE — One Kickapoo/La Farge quartet, two meet records.
Katie Randow, Chloe Walter, Ryleigh Cade and Ayvah Young ran the same four legs to two Division 3 girls' relay meet records at the WIAA State Championships — 48.69 in the 4x100 and 1:42.86 in the 4x200. In both, they beat the same team, Cameron, which chased them to 49.16 and 1:43.42.
Two relay records in one meet from one set of legs is a feat of range as much as speed: the 4x100 is pure acceleration and clean handoffs, while the 4x200 demands that same turnover held over twice the distance. The same four answered both — and Young backed it up individually, reaching the open 100 final and placing fifth in 12.39.
It's the kind of weekend that writes a small co-op program into the record book twice over. Kickapoo/La Farge leaves La Crosse with two of them, set by four runners who did it together.
