Three Hartmans power Bloomer to a Division 2 4x800 meet record
LA CROSSE — Bloomer's Division 2 4x800 relay is a Hartman family affair, and on Saturday it became a record.
Bloomer won the Division 2 girls' 4x800 relay in 9:02.77 — a meet record — over Mount Horeb (9:10.22). Three of the four legs share a surname: Briella, Aliya and Ciara Hartman, with Sophie Strand running the fourth.
The Hartmans didn't just combine for the relay — each scored on her own. Ciara Hartman won the Division 2 1,600 outright in 4:55.09, Aliya Hartman took third in that same race in 4:57.86, and Briella Hartman added a fifth-place finish in the open 400 (57.79). Three sisters, three individual placings, and then the four of them together for the record.
It's the kind of family-and-team story that defines small-school track: a single household powering a state-record relay, with Strand right alongside them. Bloomer's Hartmans rewrote the Division 2 4x800 record book — together.
