How do I see my kid's results?+

Search their name in the search bar at the top of every page, or paste their full name + school into the homepage search. Their profile shows every meet result we have, their statewide rank, and any PRs from the last 30 days. Bookmark the page so it’s easy to come back to.

How do I get emails when my kid PRs?+

Tap the heart / “Follow” button on your kid’s athlete profile. We’ll send a Sunday weekly recap plus same-day alerts for PRs and ranking jumps. One-click unsubscribe in every email.

How do I stop getting emails?+

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you’re out. If you want to manage by topic (recap vs. PR alert vs. team broadcast), claim the parent account on the email’s “preferences” link and toggle individual streams. Stuck? hello@wiathlete.com.

Why did I get an email from a college coach?+

The email did NOT come from WI Athletedirectly to you. Here’s how it works:

  1. A verified .edu college coach sent a message to your kid’s HS coach about your kid.
  2. Your kid’s HS coach decided to forward it to you.

We do not allow recruiters to email athletes or families directly — the only outbound channel is recruiter → HS coach. If you’d rather your kid not appear in recruiter searches at all, see “Can I hide my kid from recruiters?” below.

Can I hide my kid from recruiters?+

Yes. Claim your kid’s profile (parent-managed for under 18), open the profile-edit page, and flip the “Recruiter visibility” toggle to Opted out. From that moment your kid is invisible to every recruiter search and watchlist on the platform.

My kid is under 13. Is their data safe?+

Yes — we follow COPPA. We don’t collect any personal data from a child directly; only public meet results (name, school, grade, time/distance/place). No email, no photos, no direct messaging, no behavioral profile. Full detail on our COPPA notice.

I want my kid’s name removed from all listings.+

Email [OPERATOR: privacy@wiathlete.com] from a verifiable address (school portal, a recognized parent email already on file with the team). We’ll suppress future appearances and anonymize historical results within 30 days. We can’t remove their times from the underlying meet records (those exist independently on the timing company’s site and in the meet program), but we will stop displaying the name attached to them.

How do I sign up for meet text alerts?+

We don’t send SMS yet — email only, to stay below regulatory thresholds while we’re small. SMS for same-day live meet results is on the roadmap for late 2026.

My kid’s teammate just got a meet alert before they did. Why?+

Timing. Different timing companies post results at different speeds. AthleticLive posts events-as-they-finish (so we send in real-time), AccuRace posts PDF batches every 15-30 minutes, MileSplit posts the morning after. Same meet, same team, different alert delivery windows.

Can I see who else followed my kid?+

We don’t show that to parents. Recruiters and non-parent followers are deliberately not visible from the public profile (NCAA recruiting opacity + privacy for non-family followers). The athlete sees their own follower count from the profile-edit page.

Can I pay to get my kid more visibility?+

No. We charge college recruiters who use us as a power tool, not athletes or families. The whole athlete-side experience is free forever. If you ever see a “pay to get recruited” pitch from us, it’s not from us — flag it at hello@wiathlete.com.

I got a coach broadcast email I didn’t sign up for.+

Your head coach added your address to the team’s roster contact list. We send broadcasts only to addresses the coach added directly. Use the unsubscribe link in the email to opt out of that team’s broadcasts. If the list is wrong or you didn’t give the coach this address, reach out to the coach directly and let us know at hello@wiathlete.com.
