Bloomer's Ciara Hartman defends her Division 2 1,600 title
LA CROSSE — Ciara Hartman came to the state meet as the defending champion in the 1,600, and she left it the same way.
Ciara Hartman of Bloomer won the Division 2 girls' 1,600 meters in 4:55.09, repeating as champion. Abbie Hoage was second in 4:57.69.
Hartman has lived in the same narrow window all year — 4:54 to 4:58 across her regional, sectional and now state — the mark of a runner who shows up when the race matters. Her 4:55.09 was nearly identical to the 4:54.63 that won her the title a year ago.
It was a strong meet for the Bloomer program beyond the mile, too: the Bloomer girls won the Division 2 4x800 relay in 9:02.77, a meet record.
